A 360° risk management methodology for MFIs

• The OpenSpace Project aims to develop a 360° risk management methodology for MFIs, including all kinds of risks (operational, financial, economic, strategic, etc.). Such risk management is essential to secure growth in this booming sector.

• OpenSpace mainly focuses on microfinance institutions (MFIs) worldwide by providing a prospective risk analysis tool. This is a quantitative approach to risk measuring, in a similar way to Basel, albeit with a decompartmentalized risk approach. OpenSpace deals with strategic, financial and operational risks in a unified perspective.

• OpenSpace also suits donors, investors, regulators and supervisors concerned with microfinance, to help them build a portfolio, assess the risk of an existing portfolio, or diversify it. It is also aimed at insurers who wish to develop specific microfinance products.
